Apply for a Grant

The Tolland Education Foundation, Inc. (TEF) was founded in 2004 with one core mission: to inspire and fund innovative, creative learning experiences in Tolland Public Schools that enrich academics and build life skills from our youngest to our oldest students of all abilities. TEF raises money from the community and outside sources to fund grants aligned with the foundation’s mission that are beyond the conventional resources of Tolland Public Schools.

TEF considers the following factors in evaluating a grant request:

  • Innovative, creative and meaningful for students
  • Strengthens academics and meets curriculum objectives
  • Sustainable impact
  • Number of students who will benefit
  • Facilitates collaboration across other classes or grades

Each grant application is evaluated based on its individual merit, however, certain items do not meet the foundation’s mission. TEF does not fund the following and encourages applicants to seek alternative funding sources available:

  • Transportation costs (travel expenses, meals, hotel accommodations)
  • Salaries or stipends
  • Giveaways, awards, or incentives
  • Expenses normally covered in the school operating budget
  • Professional Development
  • Repeat grants (previously funded by TEF)*

*To maximize the reach of its available financial resources and in the spirit of fostering innovation, TEF considers its grants primarily as funding for seed projects and ideas and does not fund grants for programs or projects previously funded through a TEF grant. TEF grants are intended to encourage creativity and innovation in the classroom and to fund exceptional projects that are outside the normal school budgeting process. If a grant-funded project has proven its educational value, it is assumed that the school system will include it in future years as part of its budget.

**Please note: If this grant is approved, any physical or digital items purchased will become property of Tolland Public Schools (TPS). Should the applicant depart TPS for any reason, grant-funded items must remain with the school.**
